Every calculator it tried gave me the wrong numbers... heh

Hense it took me till my third try to get it right...
Always picked too much pitch for me...
I started with a 16x16... way off..
Went to 16x13... better...

I really don't understand the differences in the props and RPM/Top Speed. We took the boat out this weekend it ran well, but seemed to be a little slow. I've got a 24' Parti Kraft with 90 fs Honda. My current prop is a 13 3/4 - 13 and WOT is around 5400 (according to manual, WOT is between 5000-6000). When I completed the wizard, my top performance was a 13 1/4 - 17. Will this increase or decrease my RPMs? If I'm currently in my range, should I even fool with changing it?

Less pitch = less resistance = easier to spin in the water = higher RPM.
Unless you are obsessed with gaining maybe 1 mph, I wouldnt sweat your deal.. youre in WOT...

Shine,
I am currently running a Turning Point 13.25 X 17 Hustler aluminum as their calculator specs. Seems to work OK... motor runs about 5800 RPM with one person on board but I may be able to trim a little more RPM. I have only had it out twice since putting it on. This design seems to give a better mid-range than old prop.

Hi Wed,
I am going to give one a try and order one up tomorrow. The Piranha was a big let down, was hoping for better results there. As far as the turning point I am not sure if I want to order what the wizard recomends or stick with the size that gave me my best rpms. When I call and order I will see what they have to say. Hopefully it will show up before the weekend.
Later
Neal

Hey Shine,
It does not matter what the Wizard says, you should always choose the prop that give you best RPM @ wide open throttle (WOT) for your usual boat load to prevent motor damage. Accurate weight seems to be critical with these calculator programs. Also, different props with identical specifications can give quite different results so you may find that the recommended TP prop has a slightly different pitch. My motor has a recommended RPM range of 5500 to 6000 @ WOT. It is currently propped to run about 5800 RPM with just me on board but will still run around 5100 with 5 to 6 adults on board. I don't know if that is a normal operating range compared to other boats but it works well for me. If I see the need I will buy a second prop that is pitched for a heavier load but for now the speed prop works for me.
Turning Point may have an exchange program to assist with getting the correct prop. Hope you get it worked out.
