#1 Post by r.karjala » Fri Oct 05, 2012 1:11 pm

Took the boat in and got it winterized.

No more postponing until spring.

We boated almost every weekend and put 63 hours on the boat.

Overall good summer.

norther Illinois offshore only is having what they call a river shiver this Sunday. that's where alot of the lake Mich go fast boats bring their fountains, formulas bajas ect, out to the chain o lakes for a bit of a poker run. I like running the toon with them every year, then we'll see what the weather brings. Sunday morning, its suppose to be around 36 degrees, when we start, burr. JT

30°f this morning with a windchill that made it feel like 24°f, we had measurable snow yesterday and flurries today. My pontoon is done for the year also... I can't imagine going out again unless some weird heat wave rolls through..

I have about 3 weeks left and this weekend it's supposed to rain both days :x The gimbal breaking on my boat was a bit noisy last 3 trips out and Boat US is paying for that because it was due to water intrusion when my boat got damaged last year.

I may pull 'er out early to get it in the shop or do it myself depending on what Boat US wants to do. Sent them an estimate today.

Going out for Maryland crabs tomorrow :drool :drool :drool

Evening BMR, we are just new to boating this year. In your case, could you tell me what part of your boat has the borken gimbal and what was it controlling. This is what I get from Wiki:

For example: on a ship, the gyroscopes, shipboard compasses, stoves, and even drink holders, typically use gimbals to keep them upright with respect to the horizon despite the ship's pitching and rolling.

I'm sure it isn't a cup holder that broke on your toon.

Thanks

This weekend is going to be a wash up here in NY. I'm Hoping to get a few more weeks in since the temps have been holding out, but if it drops I'm going have to pull'er out.

My boat is an I/O. The gimbal bearing supports the output shaft coming from the engine to the outdrive. #4 in this diagram. My boat had gotten a ton of water in the bilge last April when it was damaged in a storm. Bass Pros Shops was supposed to replace the bearing but didn't so Boat US agreed to pay for it.

We woke up to a chill in the air @ 76 degrees. The high is supposed to be only hovering around 100 today.

Dropping into the mid to high 90s next week.

Yep. Winter is just around the corner. :rofl
