ok i no longer know what to believe now . due to another post here concerning getting lift and how to get that i was steered a way from one in favor of another option . i just visited a website for the pontoon water glide , and read thru an article comparing the 2 different options with the one (tap fins versus strakes) winning .

and this was on the internet so it has to be true right :)

can i getting some clarity on the article with out getting a whipping for bringing this up once again .

Use the search feature. Search for Tap Fins in topic titles, and spend the rest of your day reading up on the cons and cons. :lol3

We tried for five years to get before and after spec numbers on tap fins, our welding expert on the forum many years back got a set for free and we were finely going get before and after numbers, that was before the days of cheap GPS's so a member was even going to send send his GPS to use in the test, then FusionKing was never heard from again after being our welding expert for years

The water glide is hard to tune and may need to be removed and reinstalled several times before finding the sweet spot for it to work correctly.

Go with strakes

Although I have a WaterGlide and am quite satisfied with the performance V cost, I must agree with Redneck Randy here. Go with factory strakes. Add-on strakes (flap tins, I mean fap pins, I mean....Tap Fins :biggrin2 ) are just asking for trouble because of the risk of hand welding long runs on thin aluminum.
The WG is groovy but as Randy mentioned, must be carefully tuned. Be prepared to spend a fair amount of time scrunched underneath ur toon.

Almost any decent pontoon manufacturer will install lifting strakes on their toons but I do not know any of them that will install fap fins.

These are fins that flap when your go wot becoming wing like and lift your toon out of the water giving the effect of flying. On cruising rpm you hear a tapping sound just like the dance where it got it's name from. :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

When things start sounding Goofy to you there is a guy called Malcolm that can explain it to you if you can read his spelling. :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
