I am in the market for a cover for the elements.
For a 18 foot toon they want $700 out here!
I found one on Cabellas for $200.

Has anyone bought the store bought ones? I really don't want to shell out $700 for a cover after everything ive just shelled out for startup costs

I have one of Cabellas, use it for winter storage. PIA when I tried to use
it at the lake last summer. But with the pvc pipe frame we put togather,
and a few S hooks it stayed on the boat just fine. old jim

Are talking about a "Mooring" cover or an off season storage cover?. Mooring covers are usually fitted to your boat.
I priced a replacement mooring cover last summer and they gave me a price of around $750. Although I haven't pulled the trigger yet I may have to this season.

I am also in the market for a new cover. After 9 years the custom cover that came with my toon is shot. My dealer has his own canvas shop that makes them. He quoted me $620 for a new one. Really don't want to spend that since I probably will upgrade in the next year or 2

Any suggestions? Mine will need to be heavy enough to handle some snow in the winter. Nothing major.

Yes one to cover the boat while at the marina for the season.
I just bought the boat so don't have the extra 750 for a damn cover.

I have a tarp. Ill redneck it for awhile I guess. it will be a pita but at least its free lol

I bought one from "sportsmans guide" that fits very well and is easy enough for me to handle alone. I think it was less that $200.

hey guys, you might want to check out the boat covers at pontoonstuff.com They have two different types of covers... I think they range from 300 up to 600 bucks depending on what you want....

Not sure what area you are in but the sun/cold/heat will screw up your vinyl quick at the very least.

Quite honestly, $700 sounds like a bargain. I priced a new cover for our boat, when we first purchasd it, 4 years ago, just to be curious. They wanted right at $1,000 for a new cover, exactly like ours. This is for a full cover, that snaps to the rails, with poles to keep it up in the center. Ours is pretty much completely water proof. It will hold water and snow/ice for quite some time before dripping down in the boat. I try to keep the cover tight enough so as it can't hold water.

I still need to call and figure out exactly how to strap it down in the back, but it is so much easier than the old snap on cover! Once I build some pvc poles it will be perfect. It is also trailerable! And Waterproof I will let you know on this next week. I put the old cover on 2 weeks ago and the carpet was soaked last weekend so I have something to compare the new covers ability to keep the toon dry when I get down on Saturday.

I have to say their customer service is above and beyond any I have experienced I think Herb will agree.

The agreement was to give unbiased reviews and telling the honest truth there has been very little I have found to be wrong. I am going to start reviewing basically each and every piece I received. I have just been waiting until they have actually been used.

Dont laugh at how it looks it was my first time i put it on!!! So it was kinda quick and sloppy! I'll send better pics when I get it on properly.

Craig did you get some rope with your cover, I believe you need to lace the loops on the rear like a shoe.

While it might not come off while trailering(my cover says trailerable too, and it has similar attachment) I don't think I'd want to, still too loose, and would truly be a parachute in a literal sense, as if our toons weren't a big enough one to begin with Of course, I could be wrong.

I did not get a rope just the straps.... I was thinking thats what it needed.. I will try and call you today. Been crazy busy this week.
