Best location to mount transducer

I have searched this forum, but I don't see a best location to mount a transducer for my new Lowrance Elite 4 DSI fishfinder.

I see that most people say to mount the transducer on the bracket that goes around the aerator pump on the left toon at the rear. But I saw where one person has mounted the transducer on the transom.

I haven't drilled any holes yet for the transducer. So what does everybody suggest?

Brad

Right bracket. There's no pump there.

Since it is a Tracker it probably has a ladder....and no bracket at all.

Be sure and mount the bracket as close to bottom as possible. Toons make lots of bubbles and disturbed water and transducer needs clean water to work right. Don't tighten so much it won't kick up when it hits something.

On the bracket. It also has to be level. Your kit should have shims in case you need them. Be sure to use stainless steel hardware.

Level on a side to side you mean? It doesn't on vertical because transducer is adjustable

I think curtiscapk is correct, I can't find a bracket on the right side of my Tracker. So I will mount it on the aerator bracket on the left side. I just wanted to be sure before I start drilling into our new boat, ha.

The first hole is the hardest. After that, it gets easier.

That's like the first time I took a sawzall to the fender openings on my 1995 Suzuki Sidekick (with 33" tires).

I have a tracker also-and it has brackets on both toons.

My '03 Suntracker doesn't have a ladder in the rear...so mine is mounted to the right bracket....

It is a transducer for down/side imaging and when we are using the ladder we just flip it up.
