taylor boat bumpers
Hey guys, ran across this video on a new type of boat fender designed for pontoon boats... these install one of 3 ways, one of which includes having them permanently mounted on the side of your boat 24 / 7. That may be convenient but I would think it would create some "drag" and slow your boat down a bit as well...none the less, even though I don't think I'll be buying any, thought I would share it with you..

All I can say is keep your cash in your pocket!!! If you want to pay freight I'll look around and to find a couple of the sorry things laying around here that I've found no useful purpose for, as of yet. But I haft to admit they've got a good marketing strategy, they managed to sell a set to this fool .

Geneva,
I've been looking real closely at these. Would LOVE to hear how they are working out for you. My boat is in the water 24/7 and I live on the Gulf of Mexico so have to deal with rising/falling tides.
I'm particularly interested in the new metal fasteners that they are now using. I read numerous posting about the old plastic ones that they didn't hold well, broke easily, etc.
Thanks!
JP

Re: taylor boat bumpers
Geneva.... thanks for the pics and the link to your boat fenders.. I like the idea that they protect from the top rail all the way down to the toon itself, but I have a question... while the fender does appear to cover alot of area, they also look to be made of some type of hard plastic.... it would seem ( just from watching the video ) that if your boat fender was hit or bumped kiind of hard, because the fender appears to be rigid, it might damage your boat anyway.... does this thing have any " give " to it... otherwise it seems like it's just a hard piece of plastic attached to the side of your toon...but I like the concept if the material has some give to it.... I think in the meantime I'll stick with the rubber inflatable's and use the ez fender mounting bracket... with that ez fender mounting bracket I can drop 3 fenders on the side of the boat and have them height adjusted and locked down in under 2 minutes.....

Roland, actually it's very soft rubber that it's made out of. Not rigid at all. Iam anxious to see how they work. If not I will go back to the old standard bumpers. Thanks!

Geneva... that's good news...then they should work great on your boat...are you leaving yours attached to the side of your boat permanently or taking them on and off as needed?Geneva2702 wrote:Roland, actually it's very soft rubber that it's made out of. Not Sure Roland. I was just thinking about that the other day. Would you advise keeping them on or put on as needed? I would think they would stay on and I prefer to do that.

Re: taylor boat bumpers
How do they mount to the fence? Is there drilling or tools involved?

No drilling or tools. Click on the you tube link that I posted first at the begining of the thread. Basically there is a strap on top that you adjust and it clips underneath the edging of the deck. Very easy.

Re: taylor boat bumpers
Geneva, I would think that would depend on how often you pulled up to area's where they were needed... They look like they might take up a bit of storage space, so if they will fasten to the sides of your boat securely, then I would probably consider leaving them on... Just make sure they're on there good... I would hate for you to lose one of those babys...... Let us know how they work out..... just curious, can you get them in different colors or just the one color...Geneva2702 wrote:Not Sure Roland. I was just thinking about that the other day.
