Contact local new boat dealers and tell them you are looking for a tritoon with a strong engine and have cash upfront. If they don't have one already in trade, any salesman worth a crap will pick up the phone calling any prospect with a toon to trade and make him a deal to get 2 sales! i know that's what I did and made a lot of money AND satisfied 2 customers!!

Pretty sure my dealer delivers to Texas, or has in the past.

If this is not a drop ship directly from the factory, shipping on a boat is a killer. The guy wanted $1800 to ship me a boat from Ohio.

Good advice, appreciate the help. I've still got to save some money, some I'm premature in searching... but trying to get a feel for everything.

I'm really surprised how many people are rec NEW boats.

The "new" wears off a boat pretty fast but there is nothing like having a new motor. (warranty, knowing how it was used and maintained etc)

I would NEVER buy a new boat. Just like I would never buy a new car. Value goes down the crapper as soon as you title it. I would probably buy a new motor if I can ever afford the one I want :lol3 . Greg is right. A used boat with a new motor would be the way to go, with a clean late model boat/motor combo being second, in my book.

I think the boat prices have been holding up much better than say an new car. I lost a boat load of money on new cars but after 4 years the toon looks like it will return about 85 to 90 percent of the original cost. Partly due to price increases since purchase and the condition of the boat

Kalop........I agree with playcat! Boat dealers are hungry and I would imagine the used inventory is big. MarineMax are located around the country and they are also a boat broker for including some rental boats at my dealer at Lake of the Ozarks. I would call 5-10 different dealers and tell them you have 15k cash to buy a used tritoon. Just my two cents...I know when I bought my Harris they had a rental boat for 18 k with a 150 on it...22 foot Harris. Good luck!

Thanks everyone.

I'm going to REALLY REALLY try and source a Tritoon.

My next move is to save the remaining cash $$$.. it'll be close to December before I have the full $15k. If I can get in some overtime (maybe) I can get there quicker.

Thanks!!

My credit union gave me a car loan but w/high interest. I asked them back then about boat loan, they said "Nope" your fico isn't high enough for that. I didn't shop other lenders at the time then because I wasn't real serious back then anyway.

I'm thinking it's going to be difficult to put yourself into a real desirable tri-toon for 15K. But you probably could find with some looking an adequately powered conventional pontoon boat in that price-range and utilize it as is and add the center pontoon at a latter date when it's convenient. It's not really that difficult to do, a lot of folks have already done it, and you just may obtain a lot bigger bang for your buck...
