1960's Garcia Mitchell fishing reel restoration
It's not a boat restoration, but it will be used on the boat eventually. These two reels belonged to my grandfather and were then given to my dad, and he has now passed them down to me. They are a little rough but I am going to see if I can freshen them up a little. Eventually ill pass them on to my two boys. I'll post more photos as I progress through the restoration.

I MUST still have a Garcia-Mitchell 300-C around somewhere. Those are classic reels!
I think the 300-C had ball bearings, where the 300 had bushings.

Still using my 300's great reel. It's cool that you have your Grandfather's reels and will someday pass them along to your son.

Re: 1960's Garcia Mitchell fishing reel restoration
Thanks guys! I resized the pics and moved them a little. I didn't realize how big they were because I was using my phone to upload them the first time.
I'm still learing about the reels and the company, but the 300 was a very popular model. It's proably the most common so the value is mostly sentimental. Some people really get hooked on collecting, and find some valuable stuff. I've already got my eye on a 1940's Mitchell in a local tackle shop. Maybe for the next project.

I believe you are correct. Here is a good site with some info on the 300C.

I threw all mine in Big Cabin Creek. They were notorious for getting line behind the skirt
