Well bad news... After a couple (4 hours) we finally got the motor to crank. Ended up being a loose connection at the main plug at the motor. However it still wouldn't fire. There is no spark which just doesn't make any sense to me since it ran great for 15 minutes the last time. Needless to say we are very frustrated! The admiral more so than me. I am through trying to figure it out on my own. The mechanic that rebuilt my motor said he would diagnose the electrical for 30 bucks, which is a great deal but right now we just don't have the money to get it going. In my opinion (which appherently isn't very good) it is probably the switch box...another $250 which we just don't have right now after everything we have already done. The Admiral is throwing around the s word (sell the damn thing) I told her we can't sell it! and man did that open up another can of worms... :nutkick :nutkick :nutkick :fyou :fyou :box :box :scared

We have vacation in 3 weeks and my Step daughters wedding in Oct. So maybe next year...

Frustrated and dissapointed...I thnk I'll win the latest launch contest. Maybe an update later.

Are you sure you got the kill tether plugged in?

Yep. It ran great all summer except for an occasional out of nowhere all of a sudden it would die. After 5 minutes it would start up and not happen again, I knew something was off but I didn't think it was anything big. Then when I went to winterize it I had a hard time starting it but it did finally start and ran for 5 minutes. Then did the rebuild and the rest is history.

yes on the kill switch. Mine is just a run\off switch and I actually never even knew it existed on the old console, it was hidden in the bottom of my old controller. I got it to run for 15 minutes on the Friday before Memorial Day after replacing stator and regulator. It just pisses me off I can't figure it out. I hate paying anyone, but at this point once we have the funds that's what we will do. If I can keep the admiral from making me walk the plank...

I just found this! I think my switch may have been bad and that fried my switch box...

Nice troubleshooting guide. I didn't look too closely at the specifics, but it does confirm my earlier guess that it is some sort of 'switched ground' setup. Of course, they make it sound so simple. We both well know that finding even one of these test points can be a challenge, let alone hooking into it.
Sorry I can't help more from a distance, Craig. Let's see, we could hook up a video Skype and you could wrench while your ever patient wife holds the phone so I can see what you are doing. Between us, we should be able to git-er-done in an eight hour shift or so.
Hopefully your troubleshooter can nail it a quicker.
Keep the faith bro, and ixnay on the S word. Not after all the work you have done.

just read this whole thread. great looking toon man, too bad about the electrical problems. well I just purchased a new to me 1990 20 footer that's set up to be a fishing toon and I want a crusing toon. I saw you and ur friends/family sitting in/on and all over the PS furniture in the house/ no attached to the toon. Guess that sells it for me. If you can sit on it like that, its gotta be good stuff.

I also read about turning the seat into a live well, can someone link me to that thread. I cant seem to find it. One last question. how think is the plastic on the base of the furniture? I want to add a little more stereo than what you did but dont want to weakin the structures. thanks, John

Brandon,
the bases are thick 1\4 inch probably, should hold subs etc.. The furniture is very comfy. The livewell was no problem, the base has a notch in the back which has room for the filler hose. We got real lucky on the drain, the old one just was deep enough to go past the plywood to tighten up the drain pipe. Of course it hasn't been tested but it should work....maybe, the way my luck is going.
I got the idea from Ryan!

I tried to start it with fingers crossed, nothing. It's ok though we had a good time at lakeside and my bro came around with his toon. We all had a good time and got some four wheeling time in. Maybe after vacation we can try and take it into the boat doc. With the wedding coming not too sure how the money will play out, we will see. :prayer
