6800 RPM at WOT is correct -- although I think it is too high and I need a higher pitch prop. My prop is only 13 pitch, but I had it repaired and the guy repitched it to 14 or 14.5 on the aluminum prop. I'm thinking I need to go to a 16 or 17 pitch so I can get all the horsepower from the motor. I don't like running over 6000 RPM, so that means I shouldn't run WOT at this point till I get a new prop.

Ok toon... I don't know much " mechanical " when it comes to outboards, but I'm surprised that the rev limit alarm didn't sound @ 6800. I know a factory rep from Yamaha told me that the rev limit on my f75 was 6200 rpm's. with my current prop, I'm just a hair under 6k @ wot.

How long running at the high RPM before you should hear the rev limit alarm? When I looked up the info on the motor, it said the ideal range was 5000 - 6000. So when I took it to 6800, I didn't stay there but for just a few minutes to see what the speed would get too. Then I backed it back down within the ideal range for the motor.

We've only had the boat now a little over a month and I'm still learning everything about it. Maybe it doesn't have a rev limit alarm??? Where would it be? I know it doesn't have any meters to indicate the number of hours on the motor (I verified with the seller on this).

There's no reason why the rev limit function couldn't be automagically managed by the ECM - also there's a lot of good reason to keep the "hour meter" in the ECM as well. With the right software and an NMEA2000 interface, you can read it.
