battery location

#1 Post by gobigblue » Wed Apr 22, 2009 7:59 pm

Just wondering if anyone can make me feel better and tell me this is where the battery is supposed to be on my pontoon. It is currently sandwiched between the gas tank and the side wall of the compartment very tightly, and looks like it would have come this way from the factory. Its a 2000 Party Barge Regency. This looks like it could be dangerous to me. Does anyone have the same boat or similar to this? Thanks for any help in advance.

Should be fine as long as it's in a battery box and the connections are tight. Post a photo.

If you can, post a pic. My Tracker PC has the fuel tank on the opposite side of the batteries...

My 04 has the battery in changing room under the bench. I wouldn't think in any circumstances would it be next to fuel tank.

My 2007 i/o sounds just like lakerunner's. That is, however, right next to the gas tank which on mine is in the back left corner just next to the changing room...
(its prob like 6 inches away from the gas tank).
Deff factory done as we bought it new....
Looks safe to me.....

You can get a battery box to make sure nothing falls against the battery and causes a spark

My batterys are on top of the gas tank but I too thought this was a bad thought so I relocated them

That's where mine is located! I'd like to add a second battery next to that one but I'd need another tray I think. Any thoughts?

i located mine opposite my fuel tank, both in back.

fuel tanks are vented overboard so you should never
have fumes, but shit happens. battery's in a box so
you should never get a spark, but shit happens.

i'd like my battery up front for weight & balance, but
i learned from aircraft not to f--k with long battery
cables.

Yeah my old Proline CC had the battery up front and the cable length caused problems, so I relocated the battery. You'll have alot less issues with a short cable run.
