Launch / Recovery Checklist

#1 Post by beermunk » Thu Mar 26, 2009 8:09 pm

I'm making a checklist for launching and recovering the new boat. Because it's an I/O and way bigger than the 13' Whaler we've used up until now I want to make sure I get it right. Here's what I have so far - any suggestions?

Launch Checklist

Run Blower
Put In Plug
Tie-Down Straps
Un-Plug Trailer Lights
Dock Lines
Motor Trim Down

Recovery Checklist

Motor Trim Up
Secure Seat
Collapse Bimini
Tie-Down Straps
Plug In Trailer Lights
Pull Plug
Security Chain

Do you all have plugs on the engine compartment, shouldn't have to remove them from the toon if they have them.

About the only thing I don't see is making sure you have every thing loaded on the pontoon and ready to go.

That's a way better list than mine. Also like how it's prioritized!

Pre Trip
Got a cooler?
Plenty of food?
Condements?
Grill and charcoal? (I beach grill)
Sodas for the kids?
Whiskey for the captain?
Chaser for the captain?
Ice Ice Ice?
Blow up rafts?
Where are the kids?
Do we have to take the wife??? Just Kidding!!!
Camera? Never forget the camera
Do we have spare trashbags? I keep a trash can under the sun deck
Folding chairs for the sand bar?
Sun Screen for the kids?
Small First Aid Kit for the kids (band aids and such)
Life jackets?

Boat Launching
Straps off?
Oil level good?
Gas level good?
Battery charged?
Open Bemini
no plugs on my boat

While at the Beach (Sand Bar
Have a great time
Eat, drink, and be a kid again if possible
Play with the kids and spend as much quality time with them as we can.
Dont get hammered on the booze, just enough to chill and rekax
Try to see boobies on other boats (my favorite)
Stop drinking 2-3 hours before boarding (longer if needed, or have the co-captain drive)
Deflate and store all rafts
Take LOTS of photo's

Return to Port
Straps back on
Drain motor good
Strap bemini down
Find a dumpster at the marina to throw the trash in, or tie it up good and take it home
Pull the beast home real easy and talk to the wife while the kids sleep in the back seat

The next day
Clean and detail the boat (vacume, wipe down all the seats, clear the trash out, replace trash bags, towels, seasonings, and restock anything used, that will stay on the boat)
Put the cover on
Start wishing for the weather to be nice for the next weekend!!!
