Hola from Michigan!!

#1 Post by MSUbb1 » Fri Nov 09, 2012 6:07 pm

Greetings! Newbie here - purchased cottage June 2012, sea-doo September 2012, so the next checkbox on the list..................PONTOON! Have been lurking here for a while, soaking up all of the great information. We have just started looking at pontoons, but we hope to purchase in the Spring. Our current favorite is the Bennington 2275 GCW, as the wife LOVES the stern lounges (actually, so do I). Not sure of the horses, as the main purpose will be cruising and entertaining. (Our sea-doo has more than enough power for towng) Our lake is about 870 acres, and rather shallow.

Looking for opinions on the rear facing chaise lounge floorplan, as well as other manufacturers that have this same set up so I can do some comparisons to the Bennington. :thumbsup

Welcome to the party!
Bennington makes a nice pontoon. If you are just cruising on a 870 acre lake then anything from a 75 on up will do. If you are pulling skiers/tubes then at least 115. If you have a need for speed then go with a triple toon and as much Hp as you can afford.
When you do take the plunge we will want pics. :biggrin2

Welcome to the forum! I see you are from Kalkaska, MI. Been thru there a few times by snowmobile. Kind of avoid it now after being pulled over by the POLICE though. They still hard on the sledders up there?

Actually from the Lansing area, and we just purchased the cottage this year so working on the summer toy inventory first. While not much of a winter family up until now, we hope to put the place to good use during the winter months in the coming years! (long way of saying that I'm not sure about the cops...)

Welcome!! Check out the SouthBay's, Excursion and Avalons, if your looking for TriToons with the rear facing lounges. Also check to see the the underskin is 100% some only do 75% to 80%. Go with as much Horse power that you can afford, the more the better. One thing we looked for was that the side panels went all the way to the top of the side rails so the backside of the seats, lounges material wasn't exposed to the sun.

By the way, Tahoe/Avalon pontoons are made in Michigan. Might be worth a visit to the factory! I LOVE my Tahoe!
