RPM check?

#1 Post by mike » Thu Jun 11, 2009 6:53 am

Does anyone have any tricks for testing your tach for accuracy? I swear mine is not right, I got out on the lake last weekend and at full throttle it sure sounds right but my tachs only showing about 3k rpm... Is there a cheap rpm meter out there that I can clip onto a spark plug cable?

Have you done any work under the helm recently. If so you may have bumped the dial that you adjust for your outboard type.

I dont think I have messed with anything, I have already checked it a few years ago and it seems to be set properly...
