Got it in one! That's a Minn-Kota MK55EM motor (12V, 55 lbs thrust), on an arm that is retracted up under the deck with the attached linear actuator. Obviously, it's not on my boat yet! Oh, and I have to assemble the control circuitry still, but that part is easy (for me - I used to be an Electronics Engineer, before I became a bit-twiddler).

That is awesome looking.. Did you design it or have someone make it for you? That's what we need..

I designed it and built it. While I'm really good at working in wood, my skills fall somewhat short in aluminum. You wouldn't want to look too closely at some of the cut edges on that thing!

Well, that's the whole idea! The axle that the arm hangs on, is just under 22 inches long - the distance between the toon hangers on my tri-toon. The rectangular axle-supports are made to bolt to the toon hangers.

Looks great, be sure to post pics of the install. Then, me thinks you will need to mass produce them for everyone.

I'll be happy when I can do a 360 degree turn with no forward motion.

Besides, this will allow me to parallel park my toon (turn bow right, and main motor left, and it will go sideways to the right).

OMF'nG!

so... let me get this straight.... you're creating a device that deploys the trolling motor.... all parts are under the deck....

that sounds way too cool..... i can see how it would work, especially with the wireless ipilot controller....

wish i had something like that. my 60" shafted 80lb thrust minn kota stands in the front of the boat, like a flag pole...

as others have said.... post pictures... and schematics! <however that's spelled>
