Grass/debris screen available?

#1 Post by Sandy Freeman » Tue Jul 14, 2009 6:20 am

Does someone sell a grass screen or diverter that will attach to the front of the boat in the open spot between the tubes to divert debris and grass floating on the water from going under the boat and getting clumped up on the prop?

Yeah Herb's right, any type of device placed between the logs would cause more problems than it would solve.

Now to expand my answer one ramp I used the wind would push water Hyacinthe and block the ramp, the prop guard pushes it away from the prop and doesn't let it wrap the prop, which they love to do, it's like floating rope.

I don't know what size engine you have, so it may not work for you, but it help in slow speed handling and getting through low water by tilting your engine up almost out of the water but with the piss tube still getting water and it acts like a jet prop and pushes through low water or heavy weeds.

Also protects gators and other stuff that might want to find your prop to find to hit, one night I turned a corner about 10 mph and there was a 12 foot gator, I chopped the throttle and he went under but not fast enough, got hit by the pontoon and then by the engine.

The prop guard saved my prop and the gator from a few more scars, a gator's head is like a rock and will break or bend a prop and they swim away.

wow that would suck to hit a gator then be stuck floating till someone came and helped you. I guess that being in ND i wouldn't be caught dead in those waters expessially swimming

You mean you wouldn't jump in the water after hitting some like this to change a prop???

Chicken shit :tofunny , if you been to Florida you swam with gator's near by but there's a reason they get big they stay away from people for the the biggest part.

I snuck up on a 10 foot gator in a canoe becuase I was being quite and he didn't hear me till I was 20 foot away, but then he seen me and got gone till I left, don't know why the wife at the time didn't want to hang around and swim.

Were doing our part to thin them out and keep them hiding from people.
