newbie saying hello

#1 Post by arbuckles3 » Tue Jul 14, 2009 6:05 pm

hi guys i just bought a new to me boat it is a 2000 32 ft pontoon sun tracker party cruiser it has a 3.0 liter mercruiser an runs a whopping 16 mph per gps. its like a camper on wheels man it has an enclosed helm, ac, shower, cooktop stove, sink, water holding tanks, its cool the best thing is i got it for 5k under kelly bluebook lol.

but like i said its a new to me boat an ive never owned a boat before. an this is one big boat lol
so i have a few questions it there a way to test the toons to make sure there is not water leaking in? i could have sworn there was water sloshing inside when we loaded it on the trailer. all though it did float for the lake test an ran very well

second is how do you winterize something like this? we are planning on leaving it in enclosed storage a couple miles from the lake after we get it set up the way we want so we dont have to pull the monster 3 hours back and forth

does any one on here have a boat like this? any advice on things to look for thanks

Welcome ! I have a 2006 Party Cruiser with the same engine, although mine has the TKS carb.

Love the boat, it's been great. As for the sloshing sound you hear, the PC has 4 water tanks so make sure you're not hearing them, they are noisy on the trailer :tofunny

Signs of water in the logs are listing, if your boat is even loaded and sits low to one side, I'd look into water leaks.

I posted an extensive winterization tutorial for the PC w/ 3.0 liter Merc here:

Don't forget that the fuel filter also has a (very difficult to get to) filter in it's bowl as shown in the tutorial.

Yeah, post some pics..love Tracker boats, especially the bigger models :tofunny

nice toon. agee with bmr. if there is a leak it should be listing to one side or the other. if the plugs are on the bottom just pull the plug if they are on the top, use a siphon hose. if by next year it seem like there may be water in there then pressure test somewhere around 4psi. had one in the old toon pressure tested and never did find the leak. guess the small ones are more difficult to detect.

cool thanks for the info the boat is not listing to one side an i believe the boat was stored on the lake in a slip if it was leaking i would guess the water marks would be different on each toon and they are not the water marks are even around the back however the toons do sit lower in the back then they do in the front which i would expect due to the engine and fuel tank

thanks for everything guys i look forward to being a member of your site
thanks guys
