One more thing I forgot to mention (and it may not apply to you if you trailer) is that you will loose considerable performance if you wet slip your boat. Over the season the amount of aquatic growth that builds up on the tubes can cost you 3 MPH or more in extreme cases.
Get that motor up and let us know! Personally, in your case I would move it up as high as possible and if it's too much start bringing it back down. Only because like I stated I have some experience with your chassis and that's where we ended up.
Good luck!

Just one boat...after another, after another

Re: Xcursion Pontoon boats
Latest update.....
Now the motor is the 4th hole.... Were getting 5600rpm WOT and trimmed....
WOT speed tracked from Iphone app is 32MPH and cruising comfortably at 28mph... this was with 3 people and full fuel as well as all the other standard incidentals on board.... namely 2 coolers packed with your favorite beverages and ice....
We are a long ways away from the 38 to 40 mph claimed by the dealer.. And I was very suspect of thast claim when it was made... so I'm not completely heart broken...The next step is to try some props , but again I'm pretty sure there is not 6 to 8mph left in the boat or motor.... but I will continue to tinker with it....
The bad on this hole deal is that the manufacture designed the ski tow frame for the motor in the lowest mounting position so that when you tilt the motor all the way the cowling goes under the frame.... well fast forward to now.... you can't tilt the motor all the way up without hitting the cowel on the frame...

Re: Xcursion Pontoon boats
I know this post is older, but I did some adjusting this weekend. I have a 2013 Xcursion X23RFC with the Yamaha F150LA. I have a Yamaha SS Reliance 14.5” Dia 15 pitch prop. I have just a twin pontoon with no lifting strakes, but I do have the performance underskinning. My engine was mounted on the second hole from the top. I was seeing only 29 to 30mph by GPS at 5100 rpms. I moved the engine all the way up to the bottom (4th hole), and the cavitation plate is now even with the bottom of the transom. The boat ran 32mph at at 5400rpms, and it went from 2.9mph at idle to 3.9mph at idle. The boat ran better and handled better. I tested with 2 adults and 31 gallons of fuel that is located in the transom. I also had all my fishing gear, and a 25 pound anchor in the front. I also have an engine mount trolling motor, with three batteries and battery charger mounted under the helm. I am still not in the 5700-6000rpm range that I need to be running in, so I ordered a 15.6 X 13 pitch Enertia SS prop that so many people have recommended for pontoons similar to mine, and the hub kit for Yamaha. Hopefully this will get me in the rpm range I need to be running in. I will report back my results next weekend if the prop gets here by Friday. Just thought I would add my results to the forum for others that might find this information helpful. The engine was definitely mounted to low, which is what I hear on most of the Xcursion pontoons, which is the sister to South Bay and Berkshire.

Re: Xcursion Pontoon boats
Not understanding what you wrote. It was mounted second hole from the top and you moved it all the bottom hole (4th)? But then you state at the end the motor was mounted to low.
Please clarify. I'm interested in your results. I can't seem to get the speed out of my boat that I feel it should make.
Thanks.
