Put together our thinking heads

#1 Post by evinrude2stroke » Mon Aug 03, 2009 8:13 am

hey guys, I have an 18Ft Manitou with an external gas tank (6 gal. strapped to the back of the boat). I would like to buy or fabricate some sort of enclosure for it. Has anyone ever seen or heard of anything like this?

I knew we had one or two do it , but it shouldn't be that hard to do, just make it from some good pressure treated wood, or make a mold of the shape your want and do it in fiberglass.

Just remember to put vents in it as it needs air moving, but you can keep your gas tank out of the sun and out of prying eyes.

I replaced the rear carried plastic tanks on my 92 20' Sweetwater with an aluminum 18 gallon tank that I mounted under the console.I used a standard inboard tank installation kit with an external vent. Works great, plus I added a fuel gauge at the same time.
