Help

#1 Post by Lindsay90 » Tue Aug 04, 2009 12:47 pm

I have a 2003 Fisher pontoon and I noticed that I am getting cracks on my fiberglass by my little windshield. The question I have is this repairable? Thanks for the help.

Probably sun damage, I think you can get fiberglass filler but it probably wont look that great. Pictures would help so we could see how bad it is!

It's hard to say with out knowing how bad they are. If it is just hair line cracks, I wouldn't worry about them. Mine has a few around the windshield. It is probably stress cracks in the gel coat from the fiberglass flexing slightly. If you try and fix them your self, I feel the results may not be worth it and may just come back. Just look at it as your toon aging gracefully. :2cents

Same thing happened to mine. I think it was because water loaded up and collected on the cover after a heavy rain. The extra strain from the cover did the damage.

I should have took pics but right now I store the toon at my folks house a 1hr away. They are not deep I do keep a cover over it but I am sure the cover hits the helm putting strain on it. So I am taking it as a age thing then. With me turning 37 last Sunday I will just grow old with her I guess :boohoo

Had my new cover made with an accomodation for the windshield after the original OEM cover and rainfall put a crack in it. I found out who makes the windshields for Lowe Poontoon boats and I have to take it off and send it to them and they will make a new one (of course for the right money). Once I get the new one I shouldn't have that problem since my new mooring cover has countour area to fit it properly.
