Talon anchor mounting?

Does anyone have any ideas on mounting a Talon anchor to a pontoon? The mounting system they sell for the system wont work if you High and dry your boat cause it mounts to the engine gunnel and gets in the way of the forklift.

A bunch of Bennington owners are useing this one with power poles... You could mount a talon on it also. I'm most likely going to use this one on my build but I'm going to mount it under the deck so it won't cover up my teak flooring.

Ryan, I have a 20 foot bennington ( in fact it's the same color as the boat pictured above ) that we use almost exclusively for fishing... how much do you think one of those power polls installed would run ( ball park ) thanks..

Thanks for the reply. I wondered if the power pole mount would work but I hadn't seen one mounted to a pontoon. I can see from your picture that it will with the 6" extension mount available from Talon. Thanks again. I'll post some pictures when I get it installed.

The Talon is about half the price of the Power pole and works great. The 8' Talon can be purchased for just over $1000.00 where the cheapest power pole I've found is arount $1800.00

Prices on the talon and power pole are pretty competitive (in comparable models) however the talon is almost always a lil cheaper. I've done a lot of research on both myself and I plan on getting one (but hopefully two) on my southbay when I rig it out! The cheapest places I've found the talon at is moodeals.com, at one time they had them marked down to $799 plus the $100 dolled rebate minn Kota was offering... I want the new 12' talon, I like the talon over the power pole because you can get the quick release kit and move it from boat to boat without tools, the power pole has hydraulic lines and pumps that have to be permanatly mounted... Roland, the talon and power poles run anywhere from $900-$2000 depending on the length.... Talon has a new 12' that the longest in the market whereas power poles blade series only has a 10'.... As far as how much it'll cost to install, the power pole is going to be more expensive because they will have to mount a hydraulic pump and tank plus run lines vs the talon is mounted with a couple wrenches and two power cables... Hope this helps

Thanks Ryan.... your info helps a lot... I knew they were kind of expensive, but wasn't sure how much... If I were to go that route, I'd probably go with the talon..... but in the last two years we haven't taken the boat out more than 10 or 11 times.... so that would be kind of a high cost for the limited times we use the boat when we go fishing... now when I retire, hopefully in about 23 months, that little red benny and I will be spending a lot more time together...

Sure, makes perfect sence.... Just to add a lil extra info on them, they are also great around the dock ( especially if you have two) no more tieing up the boat just drop the talons and your stuck! Don't have to worry about the dock denting your fencing or tubes either.

I bought my 8' Talon when they were on sale for $999.00 and I got the $100 pre-paid rebate card. It's been sitting in my garage waiting for me to get my new boat. I wish now that I had purchased 2. Maybe they will be on sale again sometime! I've never seen anyone do it but I was thinking of one front and one on the back as we do a lot of beach parking.

Butch, I've seen it somewhere where a guy had two power poles on a pontoon, one on the bow and one on the stern but I can't remember if it was a video or just a pic, I'll do some research and find out.

Thanks, I plan on buying a 6' talon for the front for beach use. It would be perfect for that. I've even seen a couple of 6' units for sale used from people who bought one and decided they needed a longer one.

Butch, no luck finding the video... But it was a pontoon set up for cat fishing with rod holders everywhere. He hat two talons they were both on the starboard side and one was on the bow and the inter on the stern... The video wasent highliting them though, just talking bout fishing. When you get yours on PLEASE post up pics and videos for us to see.... Theres not alot of information on them being used on toons unfortunately, and I wish there was... I can't wait till I can get at least one and a I pilot trolling motor... Talk about a fishing machine!!!

Thanks for the videos. I have decided to put at least one talon on my boat. hopefully before summer. would like to do two but it may be a while before I can get both. I like that I pilot as well.
