New Guy from NJ

#1 Post by HarryO » Fri Jan 16, 2015 11:21 am

Just introducing myself to the board. I'm a long time boater ,but have just purchased my first pontoon. I've been lurking here for awhile and have found tons of useful info.

I found Craig's List gold...a 2001 Weeres Sportsman 20 with a 50 hp Evinrude 2 stroke and a tamden axle trailer for $1500.00
The furniture is a little rough but everything seems to work and there are no soft spots in the deck. I don't have many pics but will post what I do have so far.ImageImage

The trailer is rough and I haven't decided all of what I plan to do to her. It's too cold now to do much but bring her home and cover her till the weather warms up.

You have more trailer than you need, but that not a bad thing unless you have to go through toll roads, picture with first post gets you the NHB bonus option, you can get in just for asking right off the bat, NHB is where we celebrate birthdays with same said suit.

Welcome, nice deal on the boat and can't wait till see pictures of you working on it and then in use , don't forget James at Pontoon stuff can help with anything you need for it and we get 10 percent off, worked on mine

Welcome! And my deck is bigger!

PS Pontoonstuff is what you need if you want to replace some seats.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the trailer, my current thought is to sell it. I already have a single axle Venture trailer that is in much better shape plus it's galvanized.... The trailer under the boat now is very, very rough and two of the tires won't hold air. The good thing is that there is a title for it and even as rough as it is I can probably get $300 or 400.00 for it.

Living in South Jersey the land without hills... I'm sure I won't have any problems towing to the marina with the single axle trailer. It's less than 15 minutes from my home and I'm planning on leaving the Weeres in the water so it's only 2 trips a season.

I figure that I can use the 2 tires on the Venture to replace the 2 that won't hold air as I had planned to buy new tires and wheels anyway. I'm lucky to be 40 minutes from Eastern Marine Supply and will be making a list of trailer stuff that needs to be replaced.

I can't wait for warmer weather and a running start on my latest project.

Sounds like a great plan! If you are that close to Eastern how far are you from Chesapeake City ,MD? That's Ed's place and I know he is close to Eastern as well.

I'm about an hour from Chesapeake City. It's further south than Eastern Marine.
