New to the Pontoon world.

#1 Post by sself1219 » Tue Mar 24, 2015 4:36 am

I picked up my first Pontoon this past weekend, I've owned Bass boats for years and never really considered a Pontoon until one was given to my fishing buddy. My fishing buddy has been wanting to get a boat but didn't see the need in getting a bass boat since he fishes with me and can use my boat anytime he wants. His boss had a 25ft Tritoon with a 125hp Force outboard and a tandem trailer that he decided he didn't want anymore. My buddy asked him what he wanted for it and he said to take the stereo and speakers out of it and he could have the Tritoon, trailer, motor for free, we just had to go to Lake Oconee and pick it up. It's an 88' model Voyager 24ft Tritoon, surprisingly in pretty decent shape, the carpet looks to be in good shape, just needs a shampoo, the seats are overall in decent shape, there are some small holse in parts of the vinyl that need patched but nothing terrible. The sundeck on the back is missing a piece but we have already decided to rebuild the whole thing to make it work better. It has the full canvas awning package that covers the entire boat and has walls to totally enclose it. It also has a porta potty and enclosed bathroom area, freshwater sink and cooler. The motor supposedly runs but eats starters? We could not get it to turn over, even with a fully charged group 31 Interstate from my bass boat, it's going to the shop this week for an assessment to see if its worth messing with or just going to be replaced. The trailer is rusting to pieces but we already have a replacement from another boat. If we have to replace the motor, I think we're going to upgrade to a 200 or 225, since this is such a large heavy boat. So far, the "free" boat has cost us about $350 to get it home after welding up the trailer, replacing two bunks, and buying two new tires\rims. It did come with 14 life jackets, two new fire extinguishers, and some more accessories. All in all, I think it was still a really good deal on a monster boat. This way, our wives can enjoy the sun, the kids have room to play, and we can fish off the front, everyone wins.

More photos to come after the clean up and outfit process.
