Thanks, I get about 16-17 mpg towing @ 60-65mph. It has 4" exhaust, cold air intake and programmer....makes a big difference...

God bless,

Shoot, my F-250 with the V-10 Triton only gets about 10 MPG. That's why we slip the boat for the season and take the little Suzuki SX4 back and forth at 30 MPG.

I got an enclosed storage unit within eyesight of the ramp this year-best decision I ever made. It pays for itself in fuel savings and wear and tear on the truck. Pulling a pontoon is not like pulling a bass boat in terms of MPG that I was used to in years past.

I know I could get better if I babied it but when the family is in the truck and trying to get on the water taking it slow just isn't in the cards.

.
I'd be thrilled with 11 or 12mpg while towing the boat. The Power Wagon is a thirsty truck! When we brought the boat home from Spokane we averaged 8.8mpg. Apparently a 5.7L Hemi combined with 4.56 gears and 34" tires is not the most economical vehicle for towing, however it will pull way faster than I ever would want to. Plus the truck makes me smile when I drive it everyday, so I really don't care about fuel economy!

7.3's are happiest at about 1900 rpm. But with 3.73 gears and 37 inch tires, that puts me right at 80 :biggrin2 I tell you what... She pulls like a freight train at 80.

I don't have a diesel, but I have 3.82 gears in the rear end, with the 5.3L V8, and I found it pulls very well between 75-85. I just don't love pulling that fast. I get about 9-10 mpg. when pulling, no matter the speed.

Here is my tow rig, its an 03 cummins diesel 4x4 with the 5 speed, I don't pay attention to fuel mileage cause if you wanna play you gotta pay....I did however have to do some rust repair cause I just couldn't justify 90 grand for a new truck. lol.

Looks real good!
Here are few pics of my previous truck. After the lift, new tires& rims, headers, gear drive. Fully functional cowl induction hood. It was dynode at 425 hp. The morning I got hit during the last snow storm of the season, I picked the transfer case off the highway and through it in the back of the truck. The frame was bent, rear end housing snapped. Left rear leaf spring went into the gas tank. Can you say "TOTALLD"? It got rebuilt by a shop here in town. Dog tracks about 4 inches. I bought it back from the insurance company and sold it to him. Wish I would have kept it for the motor. Oh well!

This is my tow vehicle around the neighborhood.

Image

This is the one I'll use when I take it on a trip. I don't have a pic of the toon behind it yet, but here's another toy that I pull with it.

Image

I have it chipped, so when I'm pulling my 33' 5er, I can get about 15 MPH with it. It's the 7.3 PST. I also pull at around 1900 - 2000 RPM which is around 67 - 70 MPH.
