LED Lights Done!
Just finished installing lights under the benches. We like to camp and boat at night. The boat on came with one little curtesy light so we decided to add LEDs. Total cost was just over $50. They're also wired up to a dimmer switch which turned out really well. The picture sucks, it's overexposed, in person there is a nice even glow under the seats.

Very nice! I've been planning on doing this on our Xcursion. Did you mount them on the face of the seat bottoms or underneath the seat cushion itself? Ours doesn't have a small ledge to hide them under so I was just wondering as I'll have to mount them to the front of the seat base.

Re: LED Lights Done!
I mounted the on the bottom of the seats facing down. Only slightly annoying part is that the seats are not one solid bench, rather they're two-four individual sections and there was a bump where each section connected so I used electrical tape to black out the LED section that is semi visible where the sections come together. Also the 3M adhesive did not work worth a darn. Just too hot here. It was 112+ F when I did the install. I elected to use clear gorilla tape. It's good up to 120 F, and even under the mooring cover when it's over 150 F I have not noticed a problem.68dodgeramman wrote:Very nice! I've been planning on doing this on our Xcursion. I used metal extrusions to mount mine. I used a primer made specifically for the 3M adhesive to make the adhesive stick better.

It isn't that difficult Ralph, find what you want and mount them where you want, then run a wire from your switch on the console, and just complete the circuit. they are 12 volt. no biggy really!ralph wrote:Very nice. I wish i had the knowledge to do this
I will be glad to talk you through it if you decide to do it!

I guess i could wire them to the courtesy switch. I'll take a look how I can run the wires this weekend. Still can't imagine how to run a wire from port side seats to the starboard side helm station switch.

This is where they are on Amazon:Budoff wrote:babock where did you get the aluminum extrusions?

You can get them at other places too like 1000Bulbs.com.
There are various styles. I used the 45 degree mount so it doesn't just shine straight down. Get way more light spreading out over the floor that way.
Here is another picture. Very clean way of mounting.

Does your boat have underskin? if not you can run one under the decking, even if you do have underskin you might be able to run it from port to stbd from the outboard side to under the console.
Send me a pm if you have any questions or if I can help further.

Re: LED Lights Done!
I wouldn't run my lights from seat to seat. On my install all wires from each light get home run to to the console. That way, a wire break doesn't take out more than one set of lights.
