Ok Bryan and prop guys

#1 Post by pond tuuunes » Sun Sep 13, 2015 6:03 am

I didnt have my GPS. The prop I used is a bravo 1 26P that was re cupped to be more efficient
When I bought the prop, they said I eould loose rpm's, but gain speed because of the efficency. That is what happened. So now the engine is making more power, and the rpms are back up to 5300. Using the prop calculator, its 87 mph. Of Course that would be zero slip. Im just hoping i am hitting 80! What is your aversge slip!

Hey Buddy! You got the motor back in, awesome! Cooler weather is gonna make that beast beast run even harder, wish I was there to help ya! I have the Premier's Verado/Mirage Plus dialed in at about 12% slip. We brought the small ears on the outside edges of the prop in, for just a tad more cup and it helped out quite a bit. Your running that 4 blade and should get some high slip numbers from it. Can you measure the length of the blades from the outside of the hub to the tip of the blade? I just measured my 23 pitch Bravo 1, it was 5 3/8" My 20 pitch Typhoon is 5", My 19 pitch Mirage plus is 6 1/8". When I run the Typhoon the slip is at 36% and boats slower, about 44 GPS It hits the rev limiter at 6700 R's. The Mirage plus runs 6200 R's at 52 GPS. I kind of learned through trial and error, that the bigger 3 blades cavitate less than the smaller bladed 4 blades. I'm talking BLADE LENGTH, not pitch. I have'nt done anything else to mine since going to this Mirage Plus. It gets great mileage compared to the Typhoon and pulls a skier up really quick. Best of both worlds. I can't run the Bravo 1 at all. I think the boat would roll over before the prop does! I bought it brand new for $120.00 as trading material for??? Couldn't beat the price, so added it to my collection! Do you know anyone who might have a 28 or 30 pitch Mirage Plus to spin? I think that may be a good place to start on a 3 blade.
Keep me posted!
Hey, if anyone is looking for a boat your way, the Premier is for sale!

Almost forgot! You are running a 1.5 Bravo One outdrive, right? I may have a prop for you! A buddy just swapped props on his Lightning. I think he was running 30 pitched Mirage Plus's (3) ... I can call him if you want! Is your gearcase running right or left handed?

Thanks Bryan, Ill try going by the toon tomorrow after work and measure the prop. So your thinking maybe a 30P 3 blade? I will go out with the GPS in the next few days and get you real workd numbers. The motor sounds crisp, im liking it.

I bet she does! Nothing like hearing the cylinder "Crack" of a built big block! God I miss my 525 HP that was in my last Baja... I don't miss feeding it though! That 1/2 fuel line to the fuel rail could dump it in as fast as my Stelling Headers could spit it out! But she was a blast! Last poker run I went through 125 gallons in 1 hour... 93 octane was 7/gallon at LotO in 2007. I sold it 2 weeks after I got home and bought the first Manitou 3 months later. 3 months without a boat outta 30 some years. Talk about feeling naked!
