Re-purpose pontoon as a floating dock/fishing pier

#1 Post by pondtoon » Fri Sep 25, 2015 10:09 pm

Just picked up an older AquaPatio that I am planning on staging as a permanent floating fishing pier in our pond. I intend to keep the existing deck furniture and bimini cover (after some extensive mold/mildew cleaning), drop a couple of anchors, install a 12 ft long access ramp, and a small cantilevered swimming platform for the 4 grandkids.

Any advice out there on keeping a pontoon in the water on a full-time basis (2nd bimini, winter boat cover, better mooring etc)?

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Welcome to the club, well you won't be worried about growth on the toons slowing you down, your not moving and the rest you can figure out as you go, what you will need for it or not need

If it has the older wooden furniture bases, scrap them when you can and put light weight folders for seating. You'll drop a lot of weight and gain room to fish. Just a thought
