Fuel Spill Preventer
Has anyone out here tried on of these
http://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?pa ... id=2914232
They can be had for a short time for $58.00 until January 12th at.....

Our boat is extremely difficult to gas up since fuel burbs out or simply cuts off unless the nozzle is held just right and a very low flow rate is used. It is truly the worst designed gas fill setup I could ever imagine.

Re: Fuel Spill Preventer
Even on sale (58.00) that's an awful lot of money for a fancy plastic funnel....

Re: Fuel Spill Preventer
I'd give it a shot but my fuel fill is on the side, not on top like the illustration shows. It doesn't look as if it will work for me unfortunately.
EVERYTIME I fuel up I have to take a bucket of water to wash down the fuel that backs-up and spills out on the side of my fence. I've tried every position with the nozzle and speed of the fuel pumping into the tank and nothing works

Been using them for about a decade. Gas up at my dock about 95% of the time. Rarely fill at the marina.

We had the same kind of problemon the Premier. We were pulling our hair out and fuelling took FOREVER!
Try this funnel before you go for the fancy one.

It's the same as the one Premier and Bennungton sells on their websites but much cheaper. Between this funnel and a jiggle siphon, the boat takes fuel like a champ now.

+3 -- these things work great! We fill up at our dock using 4 5-gal gas cans. I just set the can on the folded down back seat and let gravity do it's thing. I also found a 3/8" version that works great to pump water out of the toons. Luckily we won't have that issue anymore now that I've had the cracks repaired (hairline cracks at the rear where the toons mount to the frame of the boat). Repair guy said those little hairline cracks act as a syphon when the toons get warm and only pulled water in when we were underway - they were above water line when sitting still.sunedog wrote:+2old jim wrote:Jiggle siphon. Re: Fuel Spill Preventer
I have one of those big galvanized tractor funnels with a long corrigated pipe and a 1" nozzle that fits tight into my Bennie filler neck. It does okay.
But I do most of my gas filling with a 15 gallon plastic fuel tank on wheels. It originally had a squeeze pump on the hose that I cut off. Now, I lower my boat on the lift, open the vent on the tank cap and gravity transfers the fuel.
It's nice not to have to hold a 40 lb. Jerry can for 5 minutes waiting on the fuel to go in the tank. And I save $30 on every fillup by rolling my own gas tank down to the boathouse.
