Mooring ball connection
I have had many boats in the past but this is my first pontoon. Princecraft 22 ft. I have a mooring in a saltpond. My pontoon has cleats on each side but none in the center. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to connect to my morning ball?
Re: Mooring ball connection
The marina that I use has a bunch of mooring balls. I believe one would
connect to the U bolts used for the trailer strap or the safety chain. On my
toon they are under the deck. old jim

Re: Mooring ball connection
Do you think it will be strong enough for everyday use on a salt pond with some currents and fluctuating tides?
Re: Mooring ball connection
They are all different so you will need to look at yours and use your own judgment.
You could also run a rope from one front cleat to the other and connect your rope to that as well for a backup

Re: Mooring ball connection
Mines on a mooring all summer on a rough lake with it's share of high winds and I've had no problem using the loop that the bow strap on the trailer attaches to. The only thing I've had to do since I can't reach it from on the boat because it's too far underneath is attach a carrabina to the loop on the pontoon. I grab the mooring hook, attach it to the carrabina and then hook it on the boat when I walk in from the mooring.

Make a bridle like a catamaran. Go from Port cleat through the painter and back to the port cleat. Then run one from starboard cleat through the painter back to the starboard cleat. This will keep your bow straight and true on a mooring ball.
