New to the boating world.

#1 Post by Borders_03 » Mon Feb 22, 2016 8:09 am

Just bought a 1998 Fisher DLX 200. This is my first pontoon/boat ever, so I am a noob to this. I would like to hear what people think about this pontoon and some tips, tricks, and anything that I may need to know about this pontoon or boating in general. Thanks everyone.

Fisher was an independent boat manufacturer that sold out to Tracker Marine (Bass Pro) around the mid 90's. After the merger I believe they rolled off the same assembly line as SunTracker Pontoons. Furniture and amenities were very similar between the brands. I always assumed they maintained both product lines so they could support competing brands in the same markets. We had a Fisher dealer right across the street from a Tracker dealer. Tracker stopped making anything with the Fisher badge after 2009.

I bought my 2009 Fisher in 2010 as a model year close out from the Tracker Dealer who absorbed the defunct Fisher dealer's inventory. It was a pretty sweet deal at the time and I still enjoy my toon.

Awesome thanks for the info. So do you think that I maybe able to find spare parts for this pontoon through Tracker Marine? In case I may need some in the future.

For anything that is proprietary to your specific boat Tracker is probably the only source. However, given the model year and the advances in design I would speculate that most proprietary parts are now obsolete and subject to the luck of the draw in finding "New Old Stock" on the shelf somewhere.

Ok thank you very much. I assumed that after doing some internet research. I have reached out to Tracker so I will see what they say. Thanks again.

If you need parts, pontoonstuff.com often can help you. Most older pontoon nosy really don't require parts very often. I have a Starcraft pontoon, and about all I bought was a front corner trim--in 28 years usage.
