Advice trailering tri-toon with Pontoon trailer (wasnt me)

My tri-toon is currently at Bass Pro (BP) for some repairs there were caused over the summer. I received the insurance money, BP come and picked it up. They came with a tri-toon trailer and left with my boat in tow on a tri-toon trailer. One of those repairs was straightening out the front pontoons via welding and such. They informed the welding was complete and was back at their shop. I went and checked on it, and noticed is was on a regular pontoon trailer and not tri-toon. I brought to their attention, and they said it was fine for what they were doing. I told them they trailered my tritoon on a pontoon trailer on the freeway about 16 miles away AND BACK. Of course they said they would have their engineers look at it and it should be fine.
I called my insurance guy and he said that falls back on the shop, and they are not liable.

I would like to hear from the experts on there and let me know what you think - do i get a structural engineer to look at it, do i have them sign a waiver, etc..

There are mixed opinions here on the board about a tri-toon on only two bunks. I have a tri-toon and only two bunks on the trailer and don't see a problem with that. If that would be a no no the dealer would tell you I think to make more $$ on the trailer. Single axle or dual is much more to worry about when it comes to boat size/weight.

For a 16 mile delivery, the pontoon trailer should be no problem. But if you were towing all the time, a triton trailer would be preferred.

I have a Bennington with the 3/4 length third toon. My F150 motor's weight is on a typical engine pod and I'm not running a 50 gallon tank in the center toon. The middle toon in my case doesn't weigh but about 250 lbs so I'm just fine with a pontoon trailer.

I see Tri's on 2 bunk hoists at the lake. Myself, I would prefer 3 bunks for my Tri's. But they must be ok, if some people store theirs on lifts. Thats alot of hanging weight when you consider the outboard hanging on the transom. I wouldn't be worried about a short distance tow, though.

my ptx lived on a 2 bunk trailer until i bought it 5 years ago. i haven't seen any issues.
