Making a cover for my pontoon boat
So, I am came up with a great idea for making a cover for my pontoon boat. I park it under a covered dock but it still gets rain and leafs in it so I am wanting to make a cover that is easy to take on and off. I was thinking about making a frame out of 1" or 3/4" pvc with some loops sticking up that plug into T-fittings on the frame. I am thinking about attacking it to some kind of pulley system attached into the 2x4's on the dock frame. Anyone have any idea where I can find some decent pulleys that might work for this?

Not sure about the pulleys. Maybe you can find someone with the Touchless Cover.

Re: Making a cover for my pontoon boat
Too expensive for a older pontoon boat. Thanks though.

Since you have not made this yet, take a look at this idea. This uses a track system as opposed to pulleys.tucker0104 wrote:So, I am came up with a great idea for making a cover for my pontoon boat. As for high-end pulleys, google "wire rope" or "rigging supplies" plus your area of the country. Obviously, Home Depot/Lowes has decent pulleys as well.
Those Touchless boat covers are very expensive (in the $6K-$7k range). My buddy bought one and he has had a few problems with it breaking (the more mechanical stuff you have, the more things you have that can break). Another downside to the Touchless Cover is it is not connected to your boat so if you have a problem with birds or wasps or dirt daubers, then they can easily get under the cover and into the boat.
Post some pics of your design as I am interested as well.
