Boat Cleaner
SOOOOO we just brought her home just a bit ago and boy is she in need of a good clean up. So what do ya'll recommend for cleaning the vinyl seats? do you apply this by hand or can you pressure wash? Going to pressure wash the outside and pontoons, but pontoons need a good cleaning too, they are dull and have the waterline on them. Tell me what I need to get!! Hubs is out there vacuuming the carpet now.

Re: Boat Cleaner
I use 303 aerospace products. I have been told they are the best for boats by multiple people and my dealer. I found out the hard way not to use amour all. It drys out the stitching on the seats. I used it for years on my old boat and sure enough had problems.

Re: Boat Cleaner
Use the 303 protectant but I've found there cleaner isn't nearly as effective. Amazing cleaner by bio clean is the best cleaning product I've ever used For vinyl or plastics. I believe it's online only.

Re: Boat Cleaner
My local boat dealer carries it, but I think the cheapest place is to order online.

Re: Boat Cleaner
I order 303 by the gallon off of Amazon. Both the Aerospace Protectant for the vinyl and the Fabric Protectant for the bimini and mooring cover. Its got a million other uses around home and the pool too.

Re: Boat Cleaner
When we bought our used boat, the seats and removable cup-holders were dirty and had some mildew. The beige cup holders were almost totally covered in black mold The fence panels had never been cleaned. We used La's Totally Awesome cleaner ($1/qt at the dollar store) and Mr Clean Magic Erasers ($1 at the dollar store). They cleaned everything like new! We used a little of the Attwood Mildew Stain Remover on the tougher mildew. Be careful, tho, with any product containing bleach as the bleach can weaken stitching.
At the end of last season, we cleaned the vinyl with 3M Marine Vinyl Cleaner, Conditioner and Protectant. Easy to apply and seemed to leave seats soft and clean. I have a bottle of 303 but haven't yet opened it.
You'll find lots of posters on this site who swear by Awesome and Magic Erasers. They are both amazing and cheap.

I LOVE that Awesome, I don't know what's in it, but it works on a lot of things. Going to try it diluted on the seats. I did get some of the 303 vinyl protectant.TDJ2591 wrote:When we bought our used boat, the seats and removable cup-holders were dirty and had some mildew. Re: Boat Cleaner
Things you should NOT USE on your boat furniture:
409
Murphy’s Oil Soap
Simple Green
Armor All
Son-of-a-Gun
Bleach/Baking Soda
Turtle Wax/Tar Remover
Do not use kerosene, gasoline, or acetone, it will remove the protective top coat.
Do not use any silicone-based protectants such as Pledge; it will extract the plasticizer, leaving vinyl hard and brittle.

Re: Boat Cleaner
Awesome and Mr. Clean Magic Erasers both have microabrasives in them. I used them on my aluminum sided travel trailer to remove black streaks and eventually the paint got so thin it needed painting.lulupalooza06 wrote:TDJ2591 wrote:I LOVE that Awesome, I don't know what's in it, but it works on a lot of things. The stuff works, but I don't know if it actually harms vinyl over time.
My favorite cleaning products are Zep brand (Lowes/Home Depot), and the Citrus Degreaser/Cleaner in the spray bottle is amazing stuff. I use it to get paint out of my clothes and clean my hands. And it also smells great.
