No, that sounds about right. You may have to experiment with different props to get there but should be possible. Good luck and congratulations. Remember one thing, extra weight is your enemy.

Re: New toon
You should be right on 38 mph with the 150 FourStroke. That motor's really a good one, and they'll run just about the same as my Bennington with the Yamaha F150.
The Regency is quite a nice rig. When new, your boat was about $42K on Suntracker's one price marketing concept.

Re: New toon
If it has the xp3 package here's the performance bulletin from mercury. Looks like around 37mph is the top end.

Re: New toon
22'? Bet you will get closer to 40+, especially if the motor is propped correctly.

Re: New toon
For what it's worth to those looking at new boats a 24 foot boat typically out performs a 22 foot boat assuming identical toon package and motor, including tritoons, up to a certain hp (around 200-250 from my research) A dealer once told me that and I didn't belive it so I started looking at performance bulletins and he was right. On a bentley for example it equates to around 10% faster.
Re: New toon
I'm not so sure that's correct. 22' tritoons with my motor get into the low 40s. My 24' tops out upper 30s. My dealer told me it was a pretty decent speed hit going from 22' to 24'. Seems to make sense if you have more log in the water creating resistance.mpilot wrote:For what it's worth to those looking at new boats a 24 foot boat typically out performs a 22 foot boat assuming identical toon package and motor, including tritoons, up to a certain hp (around 200-250 from my research) A dealer once told me that and I didn't belive it so I started looking at performance bulletins and he was right. Re: New toon
Some do some don't. Look at the manufacturer tests, but you have to look at everything, fuel, wind, weight, water conditions. some the test are pretty detailed, some aren't.

Re: New toon
I notice in your signature it says 253, I assume that's the 25 foot which is closer to 26. The 243 Berkshire has a top speed of 37.5 wit a 150 according to yamaha test data. With the 200 listed in your signature the 243 would be well into the 40's and be at least as fast as the 22 you mentioned.robertm wrote:I'm not so sure that's correct. 22' tritoons with my motor get into the low 40s. Also notice in my quote that depending on brand the effect stops in the 200-250 hp range which your boat may fall into. I went and looked at performance bulletins for a few identical toons and motors with 150 hp engines. Over 24 feet in actual boat length you began to lose top end speed quickly. Anywhere between 22-24 feet identical setups other than length produced roughly the same speeds. Most 24's were less than a mph slower at most but some 24's were a few mph faster. If you think about a tritoon planed out there is very little of the boat left in the water so the extra length is negated. Also with the motor acting like a fulcrum there is more weight out front of the boat which sometimes allows more trim without porpising leading to higher speeds.
