Another new toon

#1 Post by Gearbanger » Mon Mar 28, 2016 7:58 pm

Just bought a new 2016 Lowe 210SS w/ Mercury 150. It's the tritoon w/ lifting strakes, wave tamers (underskin) and all the good stuff you need to go fast. My wife and I are pretty excited and hope to get it in the water next weekend if everything goes well. I've been lurking and reading many posts around hear, so I think I did my home work well prior to the buy.

Sounds nice! Good luck with her and hope you can get her wet over the weekend. Let us know how she runs. Pictures.... we always need pictures!

Congratulation, I got the 2015 model with the rear facing launcher (RFL). We are very happy with our choice and so will probably you.

I've definitively found the "Search" function to be my friend here. Most anything I want to know has already been asked pretty much. We are in the process now of getting all the "essentials" so we are water ready.

Not sure if Bamaman will show up to this thread but I found lots of his posts very helpful and his recommendation of Jacos Marine helped me to find the best deal on this boat. Thanks to everyone for being so helpful and hopefully I'll be able to contribute as I get some experience under my belt.

Make sure your trailer has some good guides for loading in windy conditions. You may covered this already but thought it is worth mentioning. I only had (2) up rites at the tail end of the trailer and went in between with the logs on a very windy day. The up rites had only padding on one side and a sharp metal edge on the other. Put a good scratch on one of my logs. Learned the hard way before changing the set-up on the trailer and no problems since.

Riener - good information. My trailer only has two up-rites as well so I will check that immediately.

When you mount the upright guides, leave just a hand width ( 1" or 2") between the guides and the pontoons. Mine were to far to the center of the trailer and were a bit non functional last season.

Under the Manufacturer Review Section is an entire write up on different solutions and pics of various set-ups.

So I put her in the water today. Wife, dog and I had a great time putting break-in hours on the new motor. No problem w/ the launch but had a few problems putting it back on the trailer. For some reason when I attach the front strap and crank it in, the boat would pitch the rear to one side causing it to get off the bunks when I pulled it out. I had the wife, unhitch it, reattach and it worked itself out right after the third try. She ran really well though and can't wait for some warmer weather.
