i was wondering which prop i should go with..i think i have it down to 2 props..
2016 Qwest 818 fishtail triple tube..
ETEC 115
26 gallons gas
3 men adults..
full gear..
4 blade 17 pitch 40mph@6100-6200
3 blade 17 pitch 42-43mph@5800-5900
i was wondering if stock RPM gauge could be slightly? According to Evinrude best rpm range is 5800-6000 rpms.. I wanna stick to 4 blade
bc it seem to have more bite in turns and keeps nose down better but don't wanna go over 6000rpm.. I do have ICON gauges(smart gauges) i will be installing but for now only have stock gauge to use..

Re: help on Prop, 4 blade vs 3 blade..
I'm thinking your 4 blade prop is maybe a smaller diameter than the 3 blade because typically when going to a 4 blade you actually lose a little RPM (around 50-100 per pitch) meaning you actually would, in theory, want to run a prop the same diameter as the 3 blade but in a 18-19 Pitch. You will lose a little top end though on the 4 blade, but the low RPM control of the boat and time to plane, and plane speed should be improved assuming it works like a V Hull....I haven't experimented with 4 blades on a pontoon before though.
Re: help on Prop, 4 blade vs 3 blade..
i tried 19 pitch 3 blade and 20 pitch raker stainless.. they both were 52-5400rpm.. i have hooked up my icommand gauge thru nmea and my stock analog gauge is off 100-200rpm.. so with 4 blade i was at max recommended and 3 blade was in good range too.. i have just heard conflicting reports on economy 3 vs 4 blade and def wanted some other opinions and thoughts on how 4 blade perform on toons.. my toon is 20ft overall length so its not to big to move around as well..
Re: help on Prop, 4 blade vs 3 blade..
I have a 3 blade 17 pitch and it blows out while tubing constantly, but is fine otherwise. with merc it only hits 5400 rpms but still get to 42 gps. I'm buying a 4 blade for tubing specifically but if it feels better I'll run it all the time.

Re: help on Prop, 4 blade vs 3 blade..
Th best prop I had was a Viper. I ran Renegade 4 blades, but they lifted the stern too much and ventilated on corners. Rebels worked ok. They were good for some economy. The Rakers have bow lift up the ass and like to be ran high on the transom. My best sceario was a Viper, with the motor mounted in the next highest set of holes.

Re: help on Prop, 4 blade vs 3 blade..
3 blade stainless are a good 2-3mph faster on mine BUT only in a straight line, my 120$ Solas Amita 4 on the other hand bites like no other, I can actually trim to point of porpoising and then some and still stay hooked up. 600# of people on a 4 person tube, no problem. Big waves, no problem, hitting 40mph..... Only problem. I see 39-40@5900rpm with 3 people and a 3 blade 14x18 stainless, 36-37@6100 the same load running the 13.75x17 4 blade Amita. Been trying to find a 17p Trophy Plus for a good price to see if I can get the best of both worlds.
