Adhesive Removal.....

#1 Post by SamiGuy » Fri Apr 01, 2016 6:26 pm

OK... Had to remove the "old" numbers on my toon, and the numbers and state sticker left a lot of adhesive behind. Used a bunch of "Goof-Off" with minimal results. This is on the painted "black" side panels. Acetone and Lacquer Thinner of course are out. WD-40, Mineral Spirits/Paint Thinner? What do you suggest?
Thanks in advance!!

WD-40 or a Heat gun set to low have worked for me. I used a combo of both when I removed all the factory graphics on my resto!

I've always had good luck with Mineral Spirits, Napata etc... WD40 works good and I also really like Brake Cleaner too.... If not an extreamly old weathered sticker a Heat Gun works like a champ...

UPDATE!! Had some WD-40 handy, so I tried that. Worked like a champ! (Had the gas can out if that didn't work.....plus a fire extinguisher!!) Really appreciate all the input and help. Hope to get this bad boy in the water soon!
Thanks!

yeah, it's always best to try WD-40 before using gasoline and matches... sure glad you had the extinguisher handy!
