Sea Star Steering
Hi all, I took the plunge last week and had SeaStar hydraulic steering installed on my 2014 G3 Suncatcher. Had been debating whether the results would justify the cost. My local Marina did
the complete install for 1575.00 and I have to tell you IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!
I run a 115 Yamaha and had fought the torque steer , especially left turns since it was new. Finally had enough, especially if the wife wanted to take over. I can't tell you how much different and easy the boat steers now. One finger turning at speed. Very nice. Plus I got a tilt column as part of the package so it's a double win!
If you have never thought of adding or have debated if it was worth it, take my word for it and take the plunge. You will be AMAZED at the results.

Oh ya! It is sooo worth the money. The SeaStar makes a huge difference over cable systems. Add the P/S pump to higher HP motors and its just like driving a car.

I have the Sea Star system also along with power assist pump on a Honda 150 and love it.

And also it is easy to work on at home since the net is swimming with info on fixes and repair parts. I could not imagine running our Bennington with out it.

Re: Sea Star Steering
I'm also using Sea Star. I think Bay Star is the lesser version of the steering. The dealer I went to was 'pushing' Bay Star but, I wanted Sea Star instead.

Re: Sea Star Steering
BayStar is every bit as cool as it's big brother, but only rated up to 150HP. I've used both and they are worth every penny. Currently rockin SeaStar with power assist.joe20toon wrote:I'm also using Sea Star. I think Bay Star is the lesser version of the steering. I've drove an in-board MasterCraft ski boat for 23 years. I finally graduated to a toon with a Yamaha 250 SHO. I can now steer with one finger!

Re: Sea Star Steering
I'm debating the 150hp an under kit when I retube my toon. Has anyone gone from a Teleflex Xtreme cable setup to the Baystar? The Xtreme Cable 4.2 NFB setup has worked well so far with my 140hp BUT I'll need to buy a 2' longer cable soon an am tossing around the idea of going hydraulic.
