Maybe this link has been previously posted. I thought it is a good example of the speeds of different boats. I'm sure we have heard some slightly exaggerated claims.

I've been on some fast single engine boats. A guy in our neighborhood has a three toon with a 150 ho etec that runs 48-49 all day. It's a tahoe with the express tube package.
A close friend has a tritoon with a 225 ho that runs 50 all day and has hit 53 or so with the right prop. He also has a fully custom two toon with a 225 that will hit 60. It's almost got a third toon because of the length and depth. The motor pod total length is about 10 feet and has a jacking plate and huge lifting strakes. It's time to plane is basically instantaneous. He only runs it a handful of times a year for giggles.
Another friend has what he claims is the first 22 foot bennigton with the 350 mag i/o and it'll also run in the low 50's.
I should note that all the above are gps speeds and I witnessed them.

The GPS on my boat during our trial run with 3 guys, and 3/4 tank of gas hit 29.9MPH.

So if what that article says is true (I've never pulled anyone with my boat), I should be able to do quite a few water pulling sports with my boat?

Water sports will be a breeze. I could throw just about anyone off the tube on our old Sun Tracker at 18mph. They say 22 mph is the ideal speed....P.S. I got 30.4mph yesterday by myself with gear. Yours is a little lighter than mine so I bet by yourself and playing with trim will yield 32 - 33 mph.

I have a tritoon with a 135 Honda that will do 32 with two people and gear, pulls tubes at 25 with 3 0r 4 passengers.

i think that article from 2014 needs to be revised.. my 2016 Qwest LS 818-fishtail Etec115 tri-toon 18'5 deck and 19'4 overall length is low 42-43 with 26 gallons gas and full gear with 2 male adults..i just returned from fishing trip with 4 adults males and gear and still could hit 39mph and cruise at 35 with 3/4 throttle.. I also know a few 2 toon boats, bennington 20slx with yami 115hp with big logs and strakes will do 40mph as well, also a few other 20-22(bentley, sweetwater, lowe) foot boats with 115's will run mid30's.. i think the ole generalizing speeds based on general types of toons is getting more and more off.. you need to look at weights of boats and underskinning, strakes inside and out of every tube, size of tubes.. etc...

Randy, do you recall whatyour speed was before you added the 3rd tube? What prop are you running? I run 27 gps on twin tube with same motor. I am now running a new Honda (Solas) 15-1/2 X 13 SS prop that's designed for pontoons.

I think 2 out of 10 boat owners give an honest or true answer when asked how fast their boat will go. Slightly better than politicians.

Are you speaking from experience lmao(jk).. I tend to find most people honest but some people trust there speedo instead of gps, my boat only has gps and i think most news boats the same way..

My 20' Sylvan with RPT "V" bottom shaped tubes did 37mph on GPS in saltwater. I lost 3 to 4MPH in freshwater. The boat is a 'two tooner'... Next adventure is re-propping. I want to get 6,000 to 6,200RPM's. Speedometer shows inaccurate high reading, while GPS shows true speed.
