303 leaving a milky white appearance when applied to vinyl?

#1 Post by zoom650 » Tue Jun 21, 2016 7:45 am

I bought a gallon of the Aerospace Protectant about a year ago and used it with no problems on my toon furniture. Everything always looked fantastic.

But, this season, I'm spraying the vinyl, and after wiping, there's a milky white appearance remaining.

To start this year, I washed the entire inside down with one of the purple degreasers. I'm sure I rinsed well. Dried well. Then noticed the milky appearance when I've applied the 303. Obviously, I stopped treating when I saw what was going on. I was in open morning shade with the biminis up, so the surface wasn't baking in the sun.

Anyone know what's going on? This did not happen all last season. Maybe a shelf life issue? Might this stuff maybe reacting with the degreaser or suntan lotion that didn't come off in the cleaning? Just guessing. :donno

Many thanks.

I have never had a problem with 303 even after it has froze over the winter ,,sounds like the degreaser might have done something I would maybe clean with some fantastic or light soap and water now and reapply 303

That was my WAG too... Sounds like the degreaser needs to be degreased... Try a little Dawn in a bucket of water... Dawn is a safe detergent to use on vinyl...

I hope 303 does not have a limited shelf life. I just bought a gallon still sealed from a neighbor at a garage sale last weekend for $1.50. My wife could not understand why I was so excited about my purchase.

My gut is pointing to degreaser reaction as well.

I have had bottles sit for a little over a year and make it through a Louisiana summer in an outdoor storage room. In other words, no issue with heat and no shelf life issues for me.
