I use the forks on my JD2032r with a C-Clamp clamped back mid way of the forks so the chain does not slide toward the tractor.

I'm surprised that I didn't notice anyone mentioning your good old-fashioned 'cherry picker'. Perfect for that kind of work, seeing as you don't have slots, a tree or a hoist point. Any Chinese tool store will have a cheapo one for about a hundred bucks. Great for a good many different jobs. Or just turn around and sell it if you don't want to store one.
