water in toon. Tritoon Premier?

#1 Post by missourifarmer » Sat Aug 20, 2016 12:24 am

So I took my 2008 Premier to get Outboard serviced - and new problem found. Center tube was full of water and one of the side toons was 1/2 full.

I've never owned a triton so I'm initially FREAKED. I didn't buy the boat new, and I see that Premier has a lifetime warranty on the toons and welds. Hoping this is something they would cover.

I'm of course going to have them drained - the mechanic didn't see any spots where it was leaking, etc. from the bottom - thought maybe it was coming from the top?

HELP - is this normal for a boat that is a 2008 to have this problem? What would you do? I've got an email into the manufacture. I don't even know how you check for water in the toon after I have it drained?

THANKS - I have it down at the lake of the Ozarks.

What should I do?

Not sure about the warranty, but you need to fix the problem. After a hole is drilled and drained, the hole needs to be welded. Then the Toons need to be pressure tested for leaks and fix the welds, cracks or punctures. You can tell if tubes are taking on water by listing, how low it sits from normal and and performance degradation. You have to get to know your boat to recognize some of this stuff.

I know that boat! Sorry to hear your having problems, buddy! Call John T at 573-302-4103. He is the service manager at All About Boats in Osage beach. If he can't help, let me know and I'll get you hooked up with Premier Customer Service. Quick question, was the ski locker flooded with rain water? Those older Premiers had no drains or bilge pumps. They had to be drained by pulling the center tube plug. Bad design!!!
You may have my cell number, yet... Call me if needed...

I have a 2012 premier.. It has a plastic plug on each toon (lower rear). I removed the plug water drained then I use a shop vac to "pressurize" the toon.. don't use anything stronger to pressurize the toon. as my buddy held the shop vac (blowing side) I sprayed soapy water all over the toon and found small leak which I welded a patch.
