So today it was 74 degrees so I thought a good day to put on the muffs and let the 90 hp Merc run some fresh fuel thru it. I checked the charge on main battery last night and it was 88%. Put the trickle charge on all night and this morning it was 100%. Put the muffs on and hit the key. Motor turned about 3 seconds and stopped. Hit the key and it just bumped like a bad battery. Put the charger back on about 20 minutes and tried again. Same thing turned about 3 seconds and then just bumped. So I am thinking my high dollar battery that I put in in April of 16 is shot. Other than being a pain in the butt to get to and the fact that it weighs 75 lbs i am thinking no big deal cause it has 48 month free replacement warranty. This battery is a x2 power with 950 cca. I only need 550 for the merc. Took it back to the store and we tested it on 5 different machines and the battery is STRONG on all account. Now I am at a loss on what could cause the reaction I experienced. I have checked that all the connections were clean and tight at the battery and starter. Anyone have any thoughts or similar experience?
TIA

I had same type of issue.. Ended up being a corroded wire. The power wire leading from the battery to the ignition and power panel was corroded right before the console.... Sounds like corrosion to me.

yep! sounds like a bad cable connection or corroded terminal.
Also check starter terminals.

start at the battery and clean and polish each connection, even if it looks fine, a very thin clear film develops over time and insulates the connection, very common in boats
If it aint broke your not having enough fun

Everybody knows that the Mercs don't work so well in air that cold!
It's been 15 degrees fahrenheit here all day.
