I would be interesting to see what prop this one has on it. He's running 32 mph w/ the same boat and two people on it.

I would love to know, I watched that video several times while I was waiting on the repower, hoping to get the same results! I noticed it was very calm in the video, and when I ran it was very choppy to say the least.

I am going to the dealer in the morning to pick up a Vengeance 15p, maybe a 13p or 14p, and a Spitfire for the hell of it.

Hoping for better conditions. Will run them all and see what is best. Only problem is it will just be me so I can't see what it will do with a load on it.

All the research I have done points to a 14p or 15p running about 28mph with light load, and 22mph loaded down.

If I get those results I will be happy!

And it could possibly have something to do with it being a Mercury Pro XS 115. I believe they are they new "hot rod" four stro
ke of the line up.

Hi all;

Im running a 22 ft. Sun-catcher, 2 logs , no strakes with a 115 FB Yamaha. Power Tech 12p x 13.5 stainless 3 blade. 6200 RPM WOT
On a calm day with me alone and full tank of fuel I can tap 31 m.p.h. G.P.S.
2 adults and 2-3 teenagers and fuel and ice chests , I can punch 26-27 on the GPS at WOT. If the lake gets choppy or if the wind is up that number drops.
Bottom line is that these things are refrigerators in the water . I guess if we wanted a speed boat we shoulda bought one, right? ...lol.

Issue is solved!

I took a Vengeance 15p (dealer thought they had spitfires in stock but did not), out on Friday.

Weird day:

Took the 17p off and the hub was spun! No clue how this happened as this would have been during the break-in period. Hit nothing and since I was breaking it in, no hot dogging the motor. :donno

Put the 15p on thinking this was the answer and it was terrible. I went from 4800-5000 on the 17 to hitting the rev limiter at 2/3 throttle and a calculated slip of 35%, 18mph. Felt like it would have spun to 7k!

So I thought, ok, maybe the 17 just had the bad hub all along, so put that back on. Could not get the 5k I hit the other day, again, with just me, no more than 4800 rpm at 24-25 mph.

So now I'm pissed. Don't want a speedboat, just want it to run properly. Went home and had many, many beers.

Back to dealer and they had a 15x15 Enertia. Out today and hit 5250 rpm (remember my SeaPro max's at 5500, and was running 28 mph (calculated slip 12.5%). Bingo! So unless it bogs down a whole bunch with family on, I am staying with this one! By the way, the Enertia just felt plain great, love the prop! If it bogs with family I will just drop a pitch or two, but hope to stay right here.

Thanks for all the input everyone, and if you are ever contemplating trying the Enertia, big thumbs up here!

The Enertia is the standard of the industry, and it's probably the one for your use. They're expensive but worth it if no ventilation is experienced with the anticipated load you plan to put on the boat.

I used to go through an aluminum prop every year. When I switched to stainless, I never have crunched one to where it had to go to the prop shop.
