Trolling motor
I have a 23 foot toon, 115 Yamaha looking to purchase a trolling motor. I have a bad back and knees. Looking at the minn Kota 80 pound trust riptide model 17992595. Anyone one have one if so how’s it working for you.

Re: Trolling motor
More is better, in order to be able to deal with variable conditions.
I have an older bow mounted Minn Kota 12v 55 lb. thrust with the basic foot pedal control setup. It pulls my boat along at 2 mph under calm conditions and I maintain a lot of battery power to get me to shore if needed.
I would think that 80 lbs. of thrust would be great - depending upon what you want to do, BUT I have no hands on experience with the newer higher tech units.

Big and ugly but we love our 1999/2000 Crest II DL with a Yamaha F115
Re: Trolling motor
I have an 80# thrust Terrova with a 60 in shaft. The Terrova is the freshwater Riptide.
Works great. Maxes out at 2.5 or 3 mph depending on current and wind. Boat responds quickly, and holds spot pretty well again depending on wind.

I have a 22.5 foot Tritoon. I also have the 80 Terrova with 60” shaft. Works great. I also use an on board charger I bought from Minn Kota.

Re: Trolling motor
Thanks guys for the responses decided to get the 24 volt saltwater Minn Kota 80 pound thrust, 60 inch shaft Ulterra with the auto deploy and stow. Also has automdepth control, spot lock and auto pilot. Just picked up the batteries, battery boxes, on board charger, circuit breaker and plug. Once I get that installed I will pick up the trolling motor.
Thanks again

Re: Trolling motor
I wish they would make a larger 12v, I stick with the 55# so I can charge the batteries with the outboard. It’s a pain to charge 24v setups when you are spending a week camping in a remote area. 55# keeps maintains direction on windy days but is running 10 of 10 to do it!

Re: Trolling motor
not sure of the name for Yamaha but Merc calls there's troll control put in gear then you have a plus or minus button debending on if you want to go faster or slower each hit changes it by 50 rpm works great love mine I have a 115 check it out I can get under 2 mph with it it's really nice when it is windy out can hold a nice troll speed
