Mounting a Pedestal grill on my pontoon boat. I plan on removing the grill and base when trailering. I can put the entire base and grill wrapped in a moving pad in the bed of my truck. My question is….. when I loctite the threads on the grill to the top of the pedestal mount should I be safe and use red loctite? I do not see a reason to remove it at the top of the base.
Thoughts?

Use blue, especially with small bolts and SS ones (303 or 304) are even softer than 18-8 series (they technically are all 300 series)
Is it a bolt and nut you can get to easy? If so use red if on hand and then just shear bolts with 2 wrenches when you need to remove it. The amount of heat needed to defeat red lock tite is like 500+ degrees that will ruin grill
But honestly just use blue.

Heat does affect LocTite. That’s how I remove the red put on by gun manufacturers when I do gun work, as they like to use it on rear sight mounting screws. I also prefer blue, and don’t use red LocTite.bansil wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 4:02 pmUse blue, especially with small bolts and SS ones (303 or 304) are even softer than 18-8 series (they technically are all 300 series)

As far as grill temps go; I routinely sear steaks on mine with the temp over 600 degrees.
