decks wood or metal?

#1 Post by ylojelo » Tue Feb 09, 2010 2:28 pm

Metal sounded like the better way to go, but sanpan (aqua patio, parti kraft & sweetwater), says their wood decks wont warp, rot or dent and are quieter. Any thoughts? And what is a underdeck skin?

I love the alumadeck on our Sun Tracker. It is lighter in weight and doesn't hold moisture. Our last pontoon had a wood deck and I can't tell any differance in the sound.

I have all aluminum decking and other than popping every now and then when the sun comes out, I love it! Should last a long, long time! Mine is quiet, but I also have full aluminum skin under... :fasttoon

And what is a underdeck skin?

It's were they cover the cross beams with aluminum skin to stop water from hitting beams and slowing it down also is quieter

Agreed. All plywood eventually rots...it can take decades though.
