Think it would be okay to keep in the slip year round. Just keep it covered, and make sure there are no places on the cover for water to pool. Once it stretches it just get larger from the weight of the water. I had an area on the sundeck that was low, I just put a couple of plastic 5 gal containers and that raised it enough for the water to run off. Oh here are a couple of links of lake levels

Ours came with some poles that elevate the cover so the water runs off.
