Prop Guard

Got to say i am curious on this one. The river I run is shallow how the year. Has to add some kind of prop protection.

Helps a bunch at low speed control and I had mine in low water and you can tilt the motor up and it will keep pushing the toon jet drive like.

It saved me a few times, once after the hurricanes a few years back the water was so high I was driving over fences and more than once I heard the sound of the wire being stretched to a high c, backed off and lifted the engine and kept going.

It would have wrapped the wire the in the prop with out it and then a year later with the water down I ran into a new mud bar, water about 6 inches deep 60 feet across it and came to a stop as engine dug in, tilted up the engine and start pumping mud making sure the engine was still pissing and staying cool and jetted right across it and the same when I came back.

So it does more than protect your prop and swimming passengers, don't forget the kids love to swim under the toon and this keeps them from kicking the prop while swimming around engine.

Also saved a 12 foot Gator and my prop when we came together around a tight turn when we both seen each other to late to totally miss each other, left toon rang his bell a little and I chopped the throttle and soon after felt his head hit the prop guard and found a good gouge in the prop guard the next day where he pushed it into the prop.

Do you lose any top end speed or control with the prop guard?

I went from 17 to 16 mph with my big 50 but gained all kinds of control, even more at slow speed, really helps in loading.

But from the tests you gain a little speed at slow and mid throttle and the same MPH at full,but everyone that I knew that added it on, lost 1 MPH and didn't care, I love mine and wouldn't take it off.

I was having a bad problems with cavitation with any weight up front at all and the kids love to sit in the front fishing seats as mine are inside the fence or in a turn, the prop guard stopped both problems.

So now I could let the kids sit up front when poking around and I could crank it in a turn at speed without cavitation,but you feel the improvement in slow speed handing right away.
