New Member of North East Ohio

#1 Post by rtwright » Fri Apr 16, 2010 4:48 pm

Greetings to all.

I have enjoyed reading the posts on this forum over the last couple of weeks. We purchased a 1984 24' Riveria Cruiser last fall and used it for a short time before the end of the season. Looking forward to a full season this year. Just got it in the water at our dock yesterday.

Although its in pretty good shape for a boat it's age (newer furniture and decking), I would like to give it a mini-make-over by next year. Plus upgrade the older but great running '83 Evinrude 25hp to something a little larger.

Will post photos soon.

Thanks!

Randy.

Welcome, dam it now we can't jump you for no pictures since you say you get them on.

Do like LakeRunner just did, he got rid of the Merc and got a 115 E-Tec Evinrude, I still have one on my wish list.

But we can't wait to see the pictures and Welcome to your whole crew.

Thanks! Attached is a photo from last fall. It was owned by an older couple but they took pretty good care of it. Only change I made after the photo was to replace the metal gas can with a plastic one that could vent. We found out that the old can didn't have any venting and gas would end up coming out the engine because of the pressure. Front seats get stowed under the cover. Will be taking more pics soon.

Metal tanks vent by leaving the cap lose just a little, my plastic 2nd one I found out what happens when you forget to open the vent, the engine stops after while and you tank is sucked in, the metal one it just quits.

Thanks all. It is in pretty good shape, toons are not banged up too bad. Although the front of the toons are a little bent up from collisions with the dock.

Picture does make it look a little nicer than it is :biggrin2

I did add a radio, speakers, a ladder, and a 6 position switch panel on the console to replace some older switches that half worked. The wifey and I keep going back and forth on the metal top (keeping it or getting rid of it), our inlaws have a regular bimini top. Taking it home and bringing it back entailed me having to take out the bolts and setting it down on the sides and securing it. Sure didn't want the thing flying away on me while towing it :scared

We are excited to have a full season on it.

We got rid of the metal top and added a new bimini. Had our canvas guy repair the spots where the old top came through the cover and had him add spots where the bimini comes through.
My wife had a great idea about getting some seat covers for our fishing chairs. Now we don't have to leave them under the cover! My in-laws Premier has the nice boat cover breathable caps, so I had him add them for us. Looks like an entirely different boat now!

You don't see many boats of that age in the nice condition yours is, congrats.
